Chivu underwent surgery, after head injury in Verona

The Romanian fullback Cristian Chivu was taken out of the field on a stretcher in minute 51of the match Chievo-Inter (0-1), after a duel in which he collided head on head with the forward of the hosts, Pelissier. At the beginning of the second half, the Romanian was badly hit in the head, and was taken out of the field on a stretcher, and rushed to hospital for a CT scan. Last night, Chivu underwent emergency operation.

The Romanian International player, aged 29, was replaced two minutes later by Materazzi. Inter won the match through the goal scored by the Italian Mario Balotelli in minute 12.
