Supreme Court revokes interdiction for Casuneanu to leave residence city

ICCJ Criminal Section revoked the interdiction set for Costel Casuneanu by the anti-corruption prosecutors to leave Bacau, the city of residence, motivating their decision through the fact that the businessman had not been questioned in advance, nor has he learnt the concrete reasons of his accusation, DNA’s recourse to this decision being judged yesterday. A third reason considered by the judges from the Criminal Section was that on the standardized interdiction form which stipulated the city of Bucharest, a judicial officer had made a correction by hand, striking off the word “Bucharest” and replacing it by “Oituz area.”

Costel Casuneanu wrote yesterday a declaration for DNA prosecutors, in the file in which he is charged with buying influence, and in which Senator Catalin Voicu and judge Florin Costiniu are also investigated. Leaving DNA, the businessman refused to make comments in connection with the charges, saying that “justice is not rendered on TV.”
