Actor Ion Lucian hospitalized

Actor Ion Lucian, who got sick while he was at the Operetta Theater, was taken on Wednesday to the Emergency Department of Bucharest Emergency Hospital by a SMURD ambulance.

After examination and urgent treatment, the actor remained in hospital for additional investigations and to have the diagnosis and final treatment established. The medics from Floreasca Hospital stressed that Master Ion Lucian does not want the details of his health condition publicized.

Known as theater actor, director, script author and playwright, Ion Lucian was born on April 22, 1924. He graduated from the Royal Theater Academy from Bucharest in 1945, when he became actor with Bucharest National Theater, and then of the Operetta Theater until 1947. On the stage of Nottara Theater he stepped in 1952, and then collaborated with the Comedy Theater (1964-1990).

Founder and manager (1965-1972) of “Ion Creanga” Theater and “Excelsior” Theater (since 1990). Professor at the Theater and Film Institute (1952-1956) and since 1990 he teaches at “Hyperion” University. During his career he was invited as actor and director to Italy, Belgium, France, Japan, Canada and USA. He is Officer of the National Order of the Legion d’Honneur (2004) – a reward for his remarkable activity in the Francophone space. He was also distinguished with the Excellence Award at the Romanian Comedy Festival, edition 2007.
