VISA and its partner banks on the Romanian market invested during October 2009 – September 2010 over EUR 1 M in three campaigns aimed at stimulating card-based payments, Mediafax quotes VISA Europe’s General Manager for Romania, Catalin Cretu as saying. “The budget that will support these communication campaigns planned by VISA and partner banks for the period between October 2009 and September 2010 exceeds EUR 1 M, a sum that does not include the expenditures with the production of materials or other bank communication channels,” Cretu pointed out. According to the VISA official, the company will promote these campaigns through print, online and outdoor channels, but it will not resort to TV channels. In Romania, 27 banks are members of VISA Europe, and 13 of them can install POS terminals. Since mid-October 2009 until the middle of December 2009, VISA ran an eight-week education and awareness campaign aimed at card owners.
