Retail turnover in November 2009 was down 9 per cent compared to November 2008, both as gross and seasonally adjusted series, according to data from the National Statistical Institute (INS). Motor-vehicle and motor-bike retail registered no decrease. The retail turnover registered in November 2009 as gross series was 4.8 per cent smaller than in October 2009, and 0.2 per cent as seasonally adjusted series. The volume of fuel retail, according to the number of business days and seasonality registered a 20.3 per cent drop in the first 11 months of 2009 compared to the first 11 of 2008. As for developments from October until November 2009, food, tobacco and beverages lost 4.8 per cent in sales. Overall, the non-food retail business as adjusted series was 2.3 per cent less in November compared to October and vehicle fuel retail was down 9.6 per cent.
