Romania’s ESI, last in the EU

According to the European Commission, the people’s and the companies’ perception on the economy has risen slightly from 62.1 points in November to 64 points in December last year, however Romania continues to rank last in the European Union when it comes to the economic sentiment indicator (ESI). According to Mediafax, of the five indicators that make up the ESI Romania has registered a positive evolution when it comes to confidence in industry, services and constructions and an improvement on the retail sector. Most of the member states have registered improvements in their economic sentiment indicators. Sweden tops the European Union’s ESI table in December, being followed by Denmark, while Romania, Greece and Cyprus are at the opposite end.
