Antonescu wants to turn PNL into ‘radical’ opposition party

Liberal leader Crin Antonescu did not want to make any comments on Fenechiu’s plan, saying only that the PNL vice president probably wants to explain to some of his colleagues that Liberals are not in the government because of the PDL. “The potential writing activity of Mr. Relu Fenechiu is not one of my topics of discussion. We can discuss, if you want, Constantin Noica’s letters, Cioran’s letters,” Antonescu told reporters on Sunday

The Liberal leader added that his party has the duty of being “radical” opposition and resisting PDL’s offensive and preferential policies. Antonescu said Liberals will not make any compromises to join the government with PDL, “regardless of any possible exchange of letters between Fenechiu, Boc and Basescu.” Underlining that the creation of a government is not “like a tender,” Antonescu explained that Liberals wanted to be partners to the PDL in the government, not “decorative items.” He said the Boc government includes “compromised” people and lacks a coherent governing programme with any real solutions to fight the economic crisis.
