Petrascu and Luchian- “protagonists” of this year’s first art auctions

Famous Romanian painters Gheorghe Petrascu and Stefan Luchian, with the works “Houses,” at a starting price of RON 110,000, and, respectively, “Peasant household” estimated at RON 45,000-47,000 are the star features in auction houses this weekend. At Alis House auction, due on Saturday at “Ion Dacian” Operetta National Theater, the art collectors can acquire 77 works, among which “Houses” by Gheorghe Petrascu, whose auctioning begins at RON 110,000, “Venice” by Nicolae Darascu, at RON 100,000, “Landscape from Breaza” by Alexandru Ciucurencu at RON 70,000, “Winter in Cismigiu” by Marius Bunescu at RON 17,000. In the bibliophile section, the most expensive volume put for sale by Alis is “Luchian” published in Bucharest in 1966 and signed by G. Peleanu, P. Oprea and D. Schobel. The volume includes the commemorative exhibition organized at the 60th anniversary of the death of the artist. The catalogue of GoldArt House is more generous and includes in the plastic art section 111 works, the best rated being “Peasant household” by Stefan Luchian, followed, in the order of the estimative prices by “Grove” by Arthur Verona at RON 17,000-19,000, “The ocean’s girl” by Sabin Balasa at RON 12,000-13,000, “Hay harvest” by Rodica Maniu and many others.
