“After 90 Years, a Royal Birth – Prince Carol Ferdinand”

The little prince was named Carol Ferdinand after his father’s ancestors, King Carol I and II and King Ferdinand, founders of the modern day Romania. The wish of the parents to have their baby born in Romania was realized at the maternity hospital named in honor of Prince Paul’s great grandmother, HM Queen Marie, granddaughter of HM Queen Victoria. “When we chose to be the first members of the Family to be married in Romania for decades, the foreign press reported positively about the image of our fine republic. We are pleased that our son’s birth has also generated favorable press for our beloved country” declared Prince Paul.

It has been 90 years since a birth here in the Royal Family. 1920, HRH Prince Carol Mircea, Prince Paul’s father, who later won victories in 4 European Union Courts which legally recognized him as the 1st born son of HM King Carol II from a legal marriage that had been illegally annulled. The marriage was found to be non morganatic. 1921, HM ex King Michael was the last Royal birth in Romania. The mother, Princess Lia and child are in excellent health. Little Prince Carol Ferdinand will be baptized in the Orthodox faith and will be raised in Bucharest.
