Occupation degree below profitability threshold for 3-star hotels

The three-star hotels from Bucharest registered last year an average occupation degree of 37.3 per cent, below the profitability threshold, estimated at 40 per cent in the industry, according to a survey of the hotel consultancy company Fivestar Hospitality, based on the data of several tens of hotels from Bucharest, which total 3,200 rooms. According to the same survey, in the case of the 4-star hotels from Bucharest, the average occupation degree dropped from 54.5 per cent in 2008 to 41.5 per cent last year, while the average tariff declined from RON 314 to RON 271. On another line, the official opening of the five-star hotel Grand Hotel Continental will take place tomorrow.
