PC contemplates ending alliance with Social-Democrats

Conservative Party President Daniela Popa has officially announced on Saturday during the PC’s National Council in Brasov her resignation from both the office of party president and from the party itself, being proposed by PSD to become a member within the Insurance Overwatch Commission. Daniel Constantin, the leader of PC’s European Funds Department, pointed out that the new party president will be elected during the Extraordinary Congress scheduled on February 28. The Conservatives also decided to take part in the local elections in 2012 by themselves, planning to win the Mayoralties of at least three Districts. At the same time, it seems several County branch presidents are pondering putting an end to the alliance with PSD. ‘We will take a decision after conducting an analysis at country level. Most of the opinions were that we will have to analyze this agreement with PSD. It is possible we will stick to it, just as the opposite is possible,’ Daniel Constantin stated.
