Dan Petrescu, sought by Livorno!

Although he just signed for Russia’s Kuban, head coach Dan Petrescu is wanted in Serie A! Livorno’s President Aldo Spinelli stated for Sky Sport24 that he has five head coaches on his list, but that his first option is Dan Petrescu. ‘We have five names on our list: Petrescu, Sonetti, Camolese, Baldini and Zeman, but the Romanian is our first option. I’ve talked with Dan Petrescu. He has a contract with a Russian club but he told me that he is not pleased because they promised him a lot and the situation there is not as he had hoped,’ Aldo Spinelli stated. Dan Petrescu confirmed exclusively for ‘ProSport’ his interest for Livorno but claims that he will turn down the Serie A offer. ‘I will turn them down because I started doing something at Kuban,’ Dan Petrescu stated. At the end of 2009 Dan Petrescu signed a contract with Russia’s second league team Kuban Krasnodar.

Ioan Becali:
We will ask for raise for Mutu when
his contract has to be prolonged

Manager Ioan Becali stated on Tuesday for violanews.com that when the time comes for Adrian Mutu to prolong his contract with AC Fiorentina he will ask for a raise for the Romanian striker. ‘When the time comes to prolong the contract we will ask Fiorentina’s sports director Pantaleo Corvino for a raise. I cannot tell you how much we will ask for because I don’t think it’s fair to talk about figures. It will be a request adapted to what the club can offer,’ Becali said. The Italian press announced that Adrian Mutu will negotiate the prolongation of his contract with Fiorentina this week. On the other hand, the Romanian striker is insistently demanded by Manchester City’s head coach Roberto Mancini.

ING: Inflationary
pressures to continue

The annual inflation rate will not match this year again the interval targeted by BNR of 3.5 per cent plus/minus one percentage point, ING Bank analysts anticipate. According to them, the consumer prices will rise more quickly than in 2009, on the background of the persistence of the inflationary pressure. Inflation was 4.74 per cent at the end of the past year, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics, outside the interval targeted by the National Bank for the third year in a row, Mediafax shows. BNR inflation target last year was still 3.5 per cent with a variation of plus/minus one percentage point. The annual rate of inflation exceeded in 2007 and 2008 the upper limits of the intervals targeted by BNR by 1.5 percentage points, rising to 6.5 per cent and, respectively, 6.3 per cent. “We expect the inflationary pressures to persist in 2010, mainly as a result of the production factors and offer, which could propel inflation even higher than in 2009,” shows an ING analysis.

BCR cuts interests for corporate credits in RON

As of February 1st, BCR will cut by 2 percent points the level of the fixed reference interest rate for new corporate credits in RON, and by 1 percent point the level of the variable reference interest rate for existing and new corporate credits in RON. “This is a reduction of interest on credits, four times higher than the 0.5 pc by which BNR recently cut the monetary policy rate,” the corporate executive vice-president of BCR, Wolfgang Schoiswohl announced, quoted by Mediafax. The new levels of the reference interest rate start from 11.5 pc and vary depending on type of credit and maturity. The bank registered in 2009 an increase of its share on the corporate crediting market by almost 1.5 pc from the end of 2008.

Greenhouse gas
emission certificates tradable on stock market

The Sibiu Stock Market has registered the first transactions with greenhouse gas emission certificates. Sibex and the Romanian Clearing House (CRC) have announced the successful completion of the first transaction with greenhouse gas emission certificates (EUAs), ‘Romania Libera’ informs.

The transaction was done by SSIF Intercapital Invest within Sibex on Friday, January 22, at a price of RON 53.04 (EUR 12.82) per certificate. This represents a first for Romania considering that the transactions with greenhouse gas emission certificates were taking place in our country outside stock market systems before January 22.

Allianz-Tiriac Pensions drew 15,000 clients on Pillar II in 2009

The private mandatory pension fund administered by Allianz-Tiriac Pensions has drawn over 15,000 clients in 2009, the figure representing 29.5 per cent of the total number of clients that joined Pillar II last year, Allianz-Tiriac announced yesterday for Mediafax. ‘The trend was maintained in the first month of 2010 too, when the AZT Your Future fund directly drew in over 1,200 new clients, namely 31.3 per cent of the total. AZT Your Future is a leader when it comes to directly drawing in new clients: almost 27,000 participants, namely 25.1 per cent of the total,’ an Allianz-Tiriac Pensions communiqué reads. The data concerns the direct adhesions, not the transfer of clients between funds or the procedure of random allocation of clients, the communiqué points out. BCR Pensions and IGN Pension Fund were second and third according to the data published by the National House of Pensions and Other Social Securities (CNPAS). The fund administered by Allianz-Tiriac Pensions has over 1.257 million clients, of which 93 per cent have contributed at least once to their private accounts. Dacia, 3rd place in France based
on the number of cars sold in the fleet renewal program

Dacia ranks third in France based on the number of automobiles sold last year through the governmental program aimed at renewing the car fleet, French governmental sources announced, quoted by Reuters and Mediafax. Out of the approximate 600,000 wrecking premiums granted in France last year, 32,340 were for Dacia cars. Citroen was the main beneficiary of the scheme, with 122,620 sold units, followed by Renault (101,510). The 4th, 5th and 6th places were held by Ford (30,910 premiums), Opel and Toyota. “The program of granting wrecking premiums reached all the goals set for 2009. This is why we need to efficiently manage its results and gradually phase down the program in 2010,” said Patrick Devedjian, the French minister of the Recovery Plan. The number of new automobiles sold in France last year rose by 10.7 pc from 2008, which is also the best result after 1990, said the minister.

Voronin finds Basescu’s visit to Chisinau inopportune

An Agerpres piece of news says ex-Moldovan President and Communists’ Party leader Vladimir Voronin finds Romanian President Traian Basescu’s visit to R. Moldova inopportune. ‘This visit Basescu is planning to make to Chisinau is neither opportune nor timely, given the political situation in this country. We don’t even have a president and situation is tenses in all respects’ he said. Voronin added that he had not made any appointment to meet with Basescu because, at the scheduled time of the visit, he would be in Moscow to see the Patriarch of Russia, Kirill. Traian Basescu is due to make a trip to R. Moldova on January 27-28, at the invitation of his counterpart, Mihai Ghimpu. According to the Moldovan president, the visit agenda includes talks with Ghimpu, with PM Filat, with leaders of the various parliamentary parties and with AIE, as well as visits to the cemetery of Romanian soldiers in Tiganca, to the University of Cahul and to the headquarter of the future Romanian Consulate in Cahul. According to the online edition of the ‘Romania libera’ daily, Moldovan authorities will introduce very strict traffic rules during the visit of the Romanian president.

Cristian Preda
proposes the apple
as logo for PDL

PDL European MP Cristian Preda declared for Gandul newspaper that he will propose the party to adopt the apple as logo, because it is a sign of health, openness, sympathy and “it is everybody’s fruit.” “I can see no problem with the name of the party, it should keep both terms of Democratic and Liberal, there is no problem with the colour as well, orange is OK, but the logo is questionable, indeed, because the rose is a socialist symbol,” Cristian Preda told an interview with Gandul.

PRM team up PSD
in Bucharest

The Greater Romania Party (PRM) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) could sign a collaboration protocol in Bucharest, the president of PRM’s Bucharest branch, Codrin Stefanescu announced yesterday, at the end of a meeting with Social-Democrat leader Mircea Geoana. “This is about a collaboration that will be more intense in the Capital. (…) This alliance can also expand at county level. Anyway, a stronger collaboration in Bucharest will be enforced very soon. We could even sign a protocol between the Bucharest branches of PSD and PRM,” Stefanescu stated at the PSD headquarters. Asked whether the collaboration also envisages the relations between the Bucharest organizations of PSD and PNL, Codrin Stefanescu recollected the solidarity proved by the local counselors of both parties last year, during the PRM meeting held in front of the Bucharest City Hall.
