Police investigations showed that the car of the Romanian Embassy in Singapore, involved in a deadly accident in December, was not stolen, and the Romanian charge d’affaires, Silviu Ionescu, was driving, lawyer Lau Wing Yum declared, The Straits Times reports in its electronic edition, quoted by Mediafax. On December 15, a car belonging to the Romanian Embassy, hit three pedestrians, one of the victims, aged 30, dying later on. Diplomat Silviu Ionescu announced subsequently the police that the car was stolen. According to lawyer Lau Wing Yum, at least 35 witnesses will be called to testify in this case, during March 3-10. The lawyer disclosed this information yesterday, in court, while he presented the facts which occurred on December 15. The lawyer also stressed that the state will submit evidence according to which the Romanian diplomat aged 49 is “criminally involved” in the death of Tong Kok Wai, Channel NewsAsia informs.
