ANI charges Placinta with forged declarations

The National Integrity Agency keeps firing off. After the PNL Deputy Eugen Nicolaescu, it is the turn of PDL Senator Sorina Placinta to go under the focus of attention of the integrity inspectors. Thus, according to Mediafax, they notified the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Appeals and Justice, accusing the former minister of youth and sports of forged declarations. ANI stresses in a press release that it took action further to publication, on July 16, 2009, by HotNews agency, of the article “Disclosures about the affairs of Minister Sorina Placinta,” about the fact that she may have not observed the legal provisions regarding the filling up and filing of the statements of interests. Placinta has allegedly failed to mention in the statements of interests that she is shareholder and manager of several companies. PDL Senator declared yesterday, about the notice sent by ANI to ICCJ Prosecutor’s Office that her wealth statement is filled up correctly and from her point of view it is a misunderstanding that will be cleared up. Sorina Placinta was minister of youth and sports for less than eight months last year. She succeeded in the office to Monica Iacob-Ridzi, charged by DNA with embezzlement. Subsequently, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was dismantled, becoming an agency subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Research.
