Exceptional Chopin recital at the Athenaeum

An extraordinary Fryderyk Chopin recital will be given by the pianist Ilinca Dumitrescu and cello player Marin Cazacu on Tuesday, February 2, at the Romanian Athenaeum. The programme includes the following: Mazurka in f sharp minor op. 6 no. 1; Mazurka in a minor op. 67 no. 4; Fantaisie-Impromptu op. 66; Nocturne in c sharp minor op. 27 no. 1, Polonaise in A major op. 40 no. 1; Polonaise-Fantaisie op. 61; Sonata in g minor op. 65, for cello and piano. The event is organized by George Enescu Philharmonic and the Polish Institute. Prestigious names of the Romanian interpretative art, artistic personality of international dimension, pianist Ilinca Dumitrescu has concerted on major stages from Europe, US, Asia, the Far East. She followed the courses of the Music Academy from Bucharest under the guidance of professors such as Cella Delavrancea and Mihail Jora. She continued brightly her studies at “P.I. Tchaikovsky” State Conservatoire from Moscow, in the class of the famous masters Stanislav Neuhaus and Iakov Flier.

The artist has a significant discography in Romania and US, with works by Scarlatti (the 14 Sonatas were considered in 1986, by “International Record Critics Award” which rallied in New York, among the best albums of the year, staying alongside those of Emil Gilels, Radu Lupu, Murray Perahia, Mstislav Rostropovici), Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Enescu, etc.
