Adrian Mutu trains alongside Fiorentina teammates

Romanian striker Adrian Mutu, who twice tested positive for sibutramine, took part in a training session alongside his AC Fiorentina teammates on Monday afternoon on Artemio Franchi stadium, ‘La Nazione’ daily informs.

The daily writers that Mutu, who is temporarily suspended but has the right to take part in training sessions alongside his teammates until a final decision is taken in his case, took part in the session in order to stay in shape but mostly in order to prove that he is extremely motivated.

‘La Nazione’ daily also wrote that the Romanian striker will most likely sue the company that produces the drug he took because the drug’s information leaflet does not include the fact that it contains sibutramine. The Italian daily points that it is difficult to speculate on the final decision but that Fiorentina’s officials hope that Mutu will only receive a fine. On the other hand, Adrian Mutu has been included in Fiorentina’s Champions League roster posted on Monday evening on the club’s official website. According to the Italian press, the Champions League roster can contain other players only if they take the place of transferred players. Thus, Felipe, Keirrison and Bolatti replaced Dainelli, Castillo and Jorgensen. ‘All the other players that were part of the previous roster cannot be excluded,’ ‘La Repubblica’ daily writes.

Adrian Mutu tested positive for sibutramine following two doping tests. The first took place on January 10 after the game that Fiorentina won against Bari, score 2-1. The second took place on January 20 after the Italian Cup game that Fiorentina won against Lazio, score 3-2. On January 29 the Italian Olympic Committee announced that it decided to suspend Mutu pending a final decision in his case.
