Bucharest Airports National Company: Over EUR 110 M turnover this year

The Bucharest Airports National Company set up by the merger of the Henri Coanda Otopeni International Airport with the Aurel Vlaicu Baneasa International Airport last year yesterday started working officially, counting on a turnover of EUR 110 M in 2010, Mediafax informs. ‘The Bucharest Airports National Company will do the management and operating co-ordination of the two Bucharest region airports. The new company will harmonise and co-ordinate development and modernization projects for the two airports in order to meet medium to long term strategies in the air transport sector’ reads a press release from the Ministry of Transport. The new company will fund itself from its own income, from state budget allocations, loans, foreign grants, private capital participation and from other sources.

The source mentions the newly-established airport system will process 75 per cent of Romania’s air traffic, the two airports in Bucharest being set to serve over 7 M air passengers this year. Through the Ministry of Transport, the state holds 80 per cent of the Bucharest Airports National Company stock and the Proprietatea Fund 20 per cent.
