Jim Gray: Chances for US to waive visas will grow

The US consul general in Romania, Jim Gray, declared on Friday that the chances that the United States waive the tourist visas for the Romanian citizens will grow subject to the improvement of the economic situation of our country and around the world, Mediafax informs.

According to Gray, the persons who submit an application for a tourist visa for US will have a bigger chance to obtain it as the economic situation of Romania improves, because those who apply for a visa will have the possibility to prove that they will return to their country at the end of the holiday, and will not emigrate to the States.

“I believe, that with the improvement of the economic situation of Romania, and the improvement at world level, the chances for the country to be included in the programme will be better, because the economic situation of the population will be better, and the people can demonstrate that they will not remain in the United States because they have a good job here and, yes, it would be easier to convince the visa officer,” Gray said.

According to the US consul general, the better is the economic situation of the person who applied for a tourist visa, the bigger chances he has to obtain the respective document.

“Thus a person who wants to go to the United States and can prove that he has already been to another ten countries, and has a property in his native country, and has been working for 25 years, will receive without problems the right to go to the United States. On another hand, an unemployed, who does not have much money, not because he has done something wrong, but we cannot grant the visa to such a person. We would tell him that if he wants to come to the United States to work he must request another type of visa,” Gray explained.
