San Remo Festival featured Jennifer Lopez

The 60th edition of the San Remo Italian music festival has handed its main awards on Saturday evening with young singer Valerio Scanu winning with “Per tutte le volte che.” This was a second triumph in San Remo from Scanu, who also made a sensation last year in 2009 with his hit song in duet with Alessandra Amoroso.

The Festival della canzone italiana is a popular song contest running since 1951 and held annually from Teatro Ariston in the city of Sanremo. Usually referred to as Festival di Sanremo, or outside Italy as Sanremo Music Festival, it was the inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has also launched the careers of many very famous Italian singers, most notably Andrea Bocelli, Giorgia, Mietta, Laura Pausini and Eros Ramazzotti. This year’s notable presence was Jennifer Lopez. The curvy 41-year-old singer, who was performing on the fourth night of the 2010 Sanremo Italian Music Festival, seems to have maintained her stamina and her curves since the New Year. Lopez sang a medley of her major hits: “Jenny from the Block,” “Waiting for Tonight,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” “Get Right” and “Lets Get Loud.”
