EC interim reports on Romania, Bulgaria due in March

The European Commission’s interim report in connection with collaboration and control of internal affair mechanisms and justice systems in Romania and Bulgaria will be issued sometime in March, according to Bulgarian news agency BNA quoted by the Novinite.com website. The exact date has not yet been set but it will be after March 3 when EU’s new sustainable growth and jobs strategy, called “Europe 2020” is to be brought forth, Bulgarian news agency announced, citing well informed sources from the European Commission. The reports on Romania and Bulgaria were initially expected to be released at the end of February. Both countries are still having difficulties in tackling corruption and organised crime, so they will have to accept European Union monitoring for at least another year, the EC said in its latest annual report, released on July 22 last year.
