General Chitac back to prison

The Military Court of Appeal scrapped the decision of the lower court which had ruled in favor of former general Mihai Chitac being released for two months to undergo heart surgery, Mediafax informs. Consequently, Mihai Chitac must return to prison. A military court had two weeks ago ruled two month- penalty interruption for Chitac. Bucharest Military Territorial Tribunal’s decision was attacked with recourse from both ends, both from prosecutors and the former general, who wants punishment to be interrupted on a longer period of time.

Former general Victor Athanasie Stanculescu was present in court yesterday, requesting again service interruption of his 15 year time in prison, arguing degrading wealth and stomach cancer suspicion. Bucharest Military Territorial Tribunal admitted a new expert assessment by INML of the former general’s case.
