Radu Mazare’s brother charged in Catalin Voicu case

Social-democrat senator Alexandru Mazare was indicted by anticorruption prosecutors, facing illegal use of position charges. Mazare’s indictment comes as part of the Catalin Voicu investigation case, according to judiciary sources, quoted by Mediafax. Alexandru Mazare, brother of Mayor Radu Mazare, has allegedly interceded for obtaining a favorable solution in a criminal case regarding several employees of Constanta City Hall, sent to court by the National Anticorruption Division (DNA). The employees were sentenced to prison, but Constanta Court of Appeal acquitted them, the quoted sources say. In this context, Alexandru Mazare has allegedly intervened with PSD Senator Catalin Voicu, to obtain a solution in favor of Constanta City Hall employees. Alexandru Mazare yesterday said the Anti- Corruption Unit file is highly political.
