Romanian troop killed in Afghanistan, repatriated

The body of the Romanian troop killed in Afghanistan earlier this week, Florin Badiceanu, was brought back to Romania yesterday afternoon, onboard a Romanian Air Force aircraft, which landed in Craiova. Defence Minister Gabriel Oprea also attended the military ceremony honouring the killed soldier, along with Chief of Staff admiral Gheorghe Marin, local officials and members of Badiceanu’s family.


The killed troop was advanced to deputy lieutenant post mortem, by order of the Defence Ministry. Badiceanu is the 12th Romanian soldier killed in Afghanistan since the country joined NATO-led peace keeping operations here.
