Former 2009candidate to presidential elections and independent Deputy, Nati Meir, was sentenced by Bucharest Tribunal to four years in prison, for deceiving several persons to whom he had promised jobs in Israel. The court also ruled that over USD 11,000, EUR 700 and almost RON 20,000 shall be seized from Nati Meir, and that RON 30,000 must be paid to ANAF jointly with the firm SC Orwalsam Trading SRL. The same must equally pay RON 70,000 judicial fees to the state. The court admitted the requests of 71 persons cheated by Nati Meir with sums going from a few hundreds RON to several thousands dollars or Euro, with a total value of USD 40,000, RON 44,000 and EUR 5,400. The sentence can be attacked with appeal at Bucharest Court of Appeal. Meir is under preventive arrest since October 2009.
