Tamara file suspended

The High Court of Appeals and Justice (ICCJ) yesterday ruled to suspend the “Aunt Tamara” file trial and to notify the Constitutional Court over several exceptions invoked by lawyer of Ioan Melinescu (former president of the National Office on Money Laundering Prevention and Combating) at the hearing of yesterday, in the lawsuit in which former premier Adrian Nastase was also sent to court.

ICCJ Public Relations Bureau pointed out that the solutions to send the files to CC cannot be contested through recourse.

Former premier Adrian Nastase yesterday said that, although he wants the lawsuit in which he is being tried to finalize the soonest in his favor, he cannot oppose the exceptions invoked by Ioan Melinescu’s lawyer regarding organization and activity of the National Anticorruption Division. “DNA is a clay colossus which doesn’t exist anywhere in Europe,” Nastase said. “I cannot tell lawyers of the other parties to not invoke certain exceptions, because I need quick solution in this case,” the former PM added.
