The net average salary has dropped by 3.5 per cent (RON 51) to RON 1,426 in January as against December last year, but has grown by 5.2 per cent compared to the same month of 2009, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs. The highest values were registered in the airline sector, with the lowest registered in the textile sector. In January 2010 the nominal gross average salary reached RON 1,967, being 2.8 per cent smaller compared to the month before, an Institute communiqué shows. The highest values of the nominal net average salary were registered in the airline sector (RON 3,184), with the lowest registered in the textile sector (RON 809). In the period analyzed the level of the net average salary earnings in most economic activities were lower compared to December 2009 back when occasional bonuses (for the winter holidays, holiday bonuses, performance bonuses), payments in kind and financial aid were offered from the salary fund or a higher output was registered.
The most significant drops of the net average salary earnings (more than 34 per cent) were registered in the forestry, fishing and aquaculture sector. At the same time, drops of 23-30 per cent were registered in the sector dealing with the manufacturing of coke and products derived from oil, in other extractive activities, in the sector dealing with the manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products, and in financial intermediations sector.
