Two highly valued works in modern art history are on sale this Saturday in the weekly art auction held at the Operetta.

`Professor Minovici` by Eustatiu Stoenescu and `Inner Yard in Seville` by Samuel Mutzner have a starting bid price of RON 55,000. The auction also lists several works from important Romanian artists: Corneliu Baba with a study, having as starting price RON 39,000, ‘Woman in a Red Armchair” by Gheorghe Vanatoru, ‘Landscape’by Dimitrie Berea and ‘Flowers in a Red Vase” by Ion Pacea, starting from RON 4,500. On Sunday, GoldArt has several important canvases to sell. The most important piece is Iosif Iser’s “Nude” estimated at a starting price of RON 100, 000. Iser is currently one of the best-valued Romanian graphic artists. Born to a Jewish family, he was initially inspired by Expressionism, creating drawings with thick lines and steep angles. After studies in Munich and Paris (with, among others, André Derain, Iser worked for the socialist press (Facla and the original version of Adev?rul), publishing a large number of caricatures (most of them satirizing Romanian Monarchy. Around 1920, Iosif Iser adopted a more luminous range of colors, while softening textures.

Also, GoldArt auctions Nicolae Tonitza’s “Winter in Balcic”.

For the first time, the gallery includes a novel concept in Romania, works on paper. Thus, during the auction there will be bids on several tens of volumes and postcards dating from Romanian Royalty times.
