Manager says president’s office owes him money

The manager of a Satu Mare car wash claims the presidential administration has failed to pay a total of RON 312 for services delivered on the occasion of President Traian Basescu’s visits in 2008 and 2009, Mediafax reports.

Claudiu Tamas said nine cars belonging to the presidential convoy had been washed at his carwash in October 2008 and five more, including the president’s Mercedes, in May 2009. He says he was promised the washing, coffee and car fragrance bill would be paid the following days, but it never happened. “It is absurd that the party in power and representatives of the presidential administration who teach us to be fair and pay our debts to them actually defraud companies. I was promised that the Prefecture or the County Council would pay, but no one did. Senators Valer Marian and Gunthner Tiberiu also have their cars washed at my place, but they always pay,” Tamas said.
