Ciorogarla arms theft suspect caught

Iordan Liviu, a suspect in the theft of arms from an army unit in Ciorogarla, was heard yesterday by prosecutors, judicial sources told Mediafax. Raluca Seucan, Romanian Police spokesperson, said the man was arrested by Organized Crime police officers and brought to the DIICOT headquarters in order to be heard by prosecutors. The suspect’s brother, Nicolae Alexandru Iordan, was arrested in December 2009, being a suspect in the same case. On Tuesday investigators found in the Bacu-Dragomiresti area another weapon that had been stolen in January 2009 from an army unit in Ciorogarla. 35 weapons stolen from Ciorogarla were found on December 27. On January 27-28, 62 weapons and accessories were stolen from the storage site belonging to army unit 01895 and located within the perimeter of army unit 01916 in Ciorogarla.
