This is the first collaboration of Chivu with the famous New York theatre. He has been living in the United States for ten years, and directed over 30 shows in New York, Los Angeles and other cities. After he took a master degree in play direction at Actors Studio Drama School a university programme supervised by Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel Ellen Burstyn and James Lipton, Cosmin became a professor at the Pace University in Manhattan, where he currently teaches acting and stage directing courses. La MaMa Experimental Theater Club turns 50, this year. For instance, in parallel with the Serenade, La MaMa is playing host for La Vie Materielle (Material Life), a French project directed by Irina Brook, the daughter of the renowned theater director Peter Brook. And it is the La MaMa, again, the theater where the Romanian stage director Andrei Serban created the Ancient Trilogy, including Electra, Trojan Women, and Medeea, early in the 70s.
