Veteran actor Florin Piersic celebrates 50 year – career

A special show was held at the Palace Hall yesterday evening to celebrate actor Florin Piersic, after 50 years of activity in both theatre and film. The show, called ‘Hoinarind printre amintiri’ (‘Wandering among memories’) brought together several artists, including many who worked with the veteran actor over the years, such as actors Stela Popescu, Alexandru Arsinel, Draga Olteanu Matei, Emilia Popescu and singers Corina Chiriac and Mirabela Dauer. The event, structured as a chain of memories and stories about Piersic’s life and career, was hosted by TV star Mihaela Radulescu.

“Never forget that there is an actor in Romania, a man called Florin Piersic who will not only be your friend but will also be there for you, whenever and wherever you might need him,” Piersic said recently. The celebrated artist was born in Cluj on January 27, 1936 and graduated from the Bucharest Theatre and Film Institute in 1957. Two years later, he joined the Bbucharest National Theatre, where he played over 30 parts until 1989. He always had several collaborations with famous theatres across the country – in Piatra Neamt, Bacau, Oradea, Brasov and others.

But his popularity and fame came mostly from film roles. Over the years, he has started in more than 40 films, giving life to a wide variety of characters, the most famous remaining that of outlaw Margelatu. He also acted in many TV plays together with other famous artists. Recently, the actor said he still receives hundreds of letters from admirers and underlined that his greatest wish is to never disappoint his audiences.
