Globus Circus premieres new show

“4U” is the new circus performance that aims at gathering together both children and their parents or grandparents. The event is, as always, marked by the presence of director Brandusa Novac and choreographer Ama Butoiescu. Besides spectacular acrobatics numbers, live music will be performed by Animal X and K1 pop bands. Shows start on Saturday at 3 pm and on Sunday at 3 pm and 6 pm.

Cismigiu, Herastrau Easter fairs

Flowers take centre-stage throughout the weekend, and upcoming Easter traditions kick off as well. As of today in Cismigiu, tradition lovers can visit the 40 specially arranged counters with special surprises, from dyed eggs to chocolate bunnies, and traditional cakes. In Herastrau, the flower fair will also be accompanied by several theatre performances and all sorts of attractions from body painting to pony rides. A fair of folk artists will also be hosted on Herastrau’s alleys. Events will go on until April 2. Entrance is free of charge in both locations.

Bunny gifts at Dalles

The Dalles galleries host between March 29 and April 3 a gift-show dedicated to Easter bunnies. Folk art and traditional sweets are on sale, as well as vintage objects and jewellery. Entry is free of charge and the gallery stays open until 8 pm every evening.

Art auctions

Two iconic Romanian painters are on offer in Bucharest’s auction houses.

Collectors can get either Nicolae Tonitza’s “Nude from the back” or Corneliu Baba’s “Self-portrait,” for prices starting from RON 170,000. Other works offered for bidding by Alis House are also valuable plastic works by important painters: Nicolae Darascu’s “Flowers,” with a starting bid of RON 70,000, “Violets” by Theodor Aman, starting from RON 60,000 and Camil Ressu’s “Iron Monger Shop.” A total of 66 works of art is put to bidding this Saturday at Alis, Operetta Theatre.

GoldArt has painter Camil Ressu as main star in this week’s art auction. His work, “Landscape in Vlaici” is estimated at a starting bid of RON 54,000.

The auction put together at Central Library’s Galateca gallery will also feature Sabin Balasa’s “Nude at the seaside,” and Henri Catargiu’s “Lady in a hat”
