General Iliescu speaks about SRI leadership corruption

While on an Antena 3 television programme, Reserve General Dumitru Iliescu said he has received information on ‘serious acts of corruption’ by SRI leadership officers, which he later passed on to a National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutor, according to yesterday’s daily newspapers ‘Gandul’ and ‘Romania Libera’. According to the general, two years ago, having notified a DNA prosecutor over the alleged corruption acts at the leadership level of the Romanian Intelligence Agency (SRI), he and people in his circle had been monitored on grounds of alleged state coup plotting. General Iliescu would not disclose the SRI leadership names purportedly engaged in corruption acts, but made the point he would take the necessary steps ‘yet not during this period, but later on.’ The general also spoke of ‘services paid hundreds of thousands of dollars’ for certain contracts. Dumitru Iliescu would not provide the prosecutor’s name either, and, when asked by journalist Floriana Jucan whether or not Vasile Doana was the prosecutor in question, he neither confirmed, nor denied it.
