The president of PSD, Victor Ponta, suggested yesterday that TVR and SSR would have a strictly political management, arguing that TVR would be claimed by the Democrat-Liberals and SRR by the Magyar Union. Ponta pointed out that allegations made so far by the PDL deputy Raluca Turcan and other members of the Democratic Liberal Party regarding the “political yoke” imposed upon TVR and RRA count only while they are not in power.
He said that PSD will oppose the appointment of politically-affiliated executives in TVR and SSR, even if they do not have the necessary majority in Parliament. He added that the PSD board had not discussed the proposals they would present to the boards of SRTv and SRR, but argued that only professionals belong there.
If the public television report is repelled by the Parliament, the entire Board of Administration of TVR, presided by Alexandru Sassu, will be replaced. The names circulated by the press as candidates for the position of president-executive of TVR include the likes of Rodica Culcer, Robert Turcescu, Valeriu Turcan, Florin Calinescu, Brandusa Armanca. The mandate of the SRR board expired last year and was extended until the end of March 2010.
