WIEE: Romania’s gas consumption might increase by 1 bln m3.

Romania’s natural gas market might slightly recover this year and consumption could increase by about one billion cubic meters, after losing 2.32 billion m3. (15 pc) in 2009, down to 13.2 bln m3., Mediafax quotes officials of the WIEE company as saying. The Businessmen’s Association of Romania (AOAR) considers as unfounded the E.ON request to increase the price of natural gas in 2010, as the acquisition price of imported gas constantly decreased during the first 9 months of 2009, from 46.51 USD/Mwh in January (when imports were close to ZERO) to 25.36 USD/Mwh in September 2009, with an import quota of 6 pc in October 2009 (in 2008, the import quota was under 30 pc). The Association also considers as equally unfounded the demand to raise electricity price by 5 pc in 2010.
