PDL starts negotiations for public TV and Radio board

PDL will start on Wednesday negotiations with the governing partners and the opposition representatives for the draft law concerning the de-politicization of the public radio and TV companies (SRR and SRTV) First Vice-President Adriean Videanu announced yesterday. According to Mediafax, PDL will rely on the draft law initiated by MP Raluca Turcan, according to which the civil society should come up with proposals for the Administrative Boards (CA) of the two public institutions, with the final decision to be taken by Parliament in a joint meeting of its two Chambers.

Adriean Videanu underlined that there is no difference between the two structures although the review of the Radio Company’s (SRR) activity in 2008 was approved by Parliament, with the desire being to create a mechanism for de-politicizing both structures. Videanu claimed that PDL took upon itself the de-politicization of SRTR and SRR, with the PDL representatives set to immediately start the negotiations with the governing partners in order to establish a mechanism for appointing the CA representatives that will assure the institutions’ de-politicization.

On the other hand, UDMR President Marko Bela stated that the Union ‘does not completely agree’ with PDL’s claim that the de-politicization of TVR and the public radio would be accomplished if the parties no longer have candidates within the institutions’ administrative boards.
