Astra Asigurari, net accounting profit up 68 pc from 2008

In late 2009, Astra Asigurari posted an overall volume of gross subscribed premiums equal to 809,471,525 RON, up 25 per cent against 2008, and a net accounting profit of 6,206,843 RON, up 68 per cent also from 2008, according to a company release received by Nine O’Clock. It brings the total of gross subscribed general insurance premiums to 799,517,436 RON in 2009. The gross property segment subscribed premiums rose 208 per cent from the previous year, which pushed Astra Asigurari into the first place among property insurers, with 135,517,721 RON worth of subscriptions, from 44,020,957 in 2008.


In the auto insurance segment, Astra Asigurari posted gross liability insurance premiums equal to 286,303,602 RON, up 85 per cent from the previous year, which also brings the insurer back to the leading market position. In the comprehensive coverage (Casco) category, Astra Asigurari , posted gross subscribed premiums matching 294,220,500 RON. Maritime insurance coverage also accounted for a major portion of the company’s business in 2009, 11,744,866 RON, up 13 per cent from 2008. Aviation insurance (comprehensive and liability coverage) was up 50 per cent in 2009, from 22,898,445 RON in 2008, to 34,383,228 RON in 2009. The company sets out to close the 2010 financial exercise with a profit of 11,785,000 RON and a gross subscribed premium income of 1,160,147,000 RON, up 40 per cent from 2009.
