Romania’s industrial production – lowest drop in EU

According to Eurostat, in February 2010, Romania’s industrial production reported the lowest drop in the EU, namely 0.4 per cent against the same period last year, Mediafax informs. The indicator reported a 3.5 per cent growth at EU level. This represents the first drop in Romania’s industrial production after three months of growth. The steepest drops were reported in Greece (10.4 per cent), Bulgaria (9.8 per cent) and Denmark (6.1 per cent). The highest growths were reported in Luxembourg (15.9 per cent), Ireland (11.8 per cent) and Malta (10.7 per cent).


Romania’s monthly industrial production drop (2.5 per cent) was the fourth steepest in the EU. Compared to the month before, in February the industrial production grew in seven EU states, dropped in 13 and remained stable in France and Italy. At EU level the indicator grew by 0.7 per cent. In the Euro Area, a region that includes EU’s largest economies, the industrial production grew by 4.1 per cent in February year-on-year and by 0.9 per cent month-on-month.
