Over 770 driving licences suspended on Saturday

Road Police suspended more than 770 driving licences on Saturday, in a countrywide check that found 150 offences, of which 125 were against traffic on public roads legislation, and 25 had a different nature.

“Police withheld 771 driving licences in view of suspending the right of driving motor vehicles on public roads. Out of the total number of suspended licences, 242 were withheld for illegal overtakes, 195 for speeding at more than 50 km/h above the legal limit, 143 for failing to grant the right of passage to pedestrians when due, 38 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 37 for running a red light, 15 for not granting the right of way to other vehicles when due, and 101 for other law infringements,” the Romanian Police said.
