FM: Romania does not fear Russia’s reaction to missile shield plan

Romania does not fear Russia’s reactions to our participation in the anti-missile shield project, Romanian minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Baconschi, stated in an interview published on the online page of the APcom agency. The decision to take part in the anti-missile project is based on the principle of “the indivisibility of Alliance security and solidarity within NATO,” Teodor Baconschi explains, on the occasion of the visit he is to make to Italy. “Recent analyses show that South-Eastern Europe is ever more vulnerable to the threat of medium- and short-wave missiles. For us, it is extremely important that, on the basis of the new approach, the entire national territory be protected, as opposed to the former plan of the preceding American administration, which stipulated protecting only the North-Eastern region of Romania,” Baconschi explained.
