Hyundai brings European-made ix35 SUV to Romania

Hyundai brought to Romania its middle-class SUV ix35, the successor of Tucson, at prices starting from EUR 18,900 (VAT included) for the version with a 163 HP petrol engine, HotNews reports. The new SUV is built at the same plant of Zilina, Slovakia where Kia assembles its Sportage model. ix35 comes with a 163 HP petrol engine model II 2.0 MPI and two versions of the R 2.0 CRDi diesel engine, of 136 and 184 HP. Three new versions of the petrol engine will come in the second quarter of the year: U2 1.7 and the GDI version of the Hyundai 1.6 Gamma petrol engine. The most expensive 4 WD version of the model equipped with this engine will sell for EUR 23,562. Prices for the 136 HP diesel engine start from EUR 20,111 (VAT included), the 184 HP diesel sells for an approximate EUR 23,700, while the Luxury variant, with everything included, will cost EUR 29,750. ix35 is the first Hyundai model designed and developed in Europe, at the center of Russelsheim, Germany.

The standard features of the new ix35 include systems like ABS, ESP, assisted uphill and downhill driving, manual air conditioning, airbag for driver and passengers, side and curtain airbags, sensors that lock the door while driving, and onboard computer. Hyundai unveiled its ix35 in March, at the Geneva Motor Show, as a rival to models like Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai. Hyundai sales in Romania dropped 89 pc during the first quarter of the year.
