From May 1, Radauti Prut customs opened 24/7

The Radauti Prut (Romania) – Lipcani (Moldova) Customs Checkpoint will operate, since May 1, on a 24/7 schedule, the prefect of Botosani County, Cristian Roman, announced on Tuesday. According to the latter, quoted by Gandul, border and customs authorities in Romania agreed with their counterparts in Moldova upon allowing the Radauti Prut – Lipcani checkpoint to operate 24/ 7. The measure came in reaction to the considerable growth of traffic through this point, after its opening on February 15, 2010. According to statistics, between February 15 and March 20, 38,000 individuals went through this checkpoint, which includes 36,000 Romanian citizens and 16,700 vehicles. In the same interval, 29,300 individuals, including 23,000 Romanian citizens and 12,100 vehicles, went through the Stanca-Costesti checkpoint.
