Ex PM ‘disillusioned’ by relationship with Basescu

Former Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu said in a show on PRO TV yesterday that his relationship with President Traian Basescu was a “great disillusionment.” Tariceanu however he avoided giving an answer when asked whether he would have voted for Basescu’s rival in 2004 presidential elections, Adrian Nastase, if he had known how his relationship with Basescu would turn out. Nastase, who was prime minister before Tariceanu, was also present in the show. Both former prime ministers talked about the public administration and the current government’s restructuring plans, saying that reform in the sector is much needed. Nastase added that authorities also have to find ways of creating jobs for all the people who will be sacked from the public administration. Tariceanu also talked about the National Anticorruption Department and the National Integrity Agency, saying that the two institutions are necessary in the fight against graft, but declared himself completely against “justice on television and information leaks.”
