Sibiu Mayor Iohannis wins lawsuit against ANI

The Alba Iulia Court of Appeals on Tuesday admitted the demand of Sibiu Mayor Klaus Iohannis to cancel a ruling by the National Integrity Agency (ANI), which accused the mayor of being in a state of incompatibility in the past, when he also was a member of a company board of administrators. According to a spokesman for the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals, Cosmin Muntean, the verdict may be challenged in court within 15 days since notification, Mediafax reports. On January 25, ANI announced that Iohannis was in a state of incompatibility between 23 April 2003 and 18 May 2004, when he simultaneously held the positions of mayor, and member in the management board of SC Parcuri Industriale Sura Mica.

Iohannis repeatedly claimed he was in no incompatibility, because he resigned from the corporate position right after he became mayor, but his decision was brought to the Trade Registry’s attention and officially recorded only later.
