George Dalaras concert to inaugurate Zone Arena

George Dalaras, a living legend of Greece, will give an extraordinary concert on May 2, to mark the official inauguration of the newest concert arena in Bucharest – Zona Arena. The special guests of the event will be Despina Olympiou, one of the great voices in today’s Greek music, and Michalis Tzouganakis, an appreciated singer and instrumentalist. The Bucharest concert is the first in the artist’s European Tour, titled “Encore Tour Europe 2010”. Compared by foreign critics to Bruce Springsteen, George Dalaras is credited with having created the perfect interweaving of the traditional-urban sound of Greek music (based on bouzouki) and its more modern aspects. Tickets can be found on www.eventim.ro. The event is organized with the support of Hellenic-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and the Hellenic Union. Zone Arena is the newest arena for open-air events in Bucharest, situated in Floreasca. Starting May, Zone arena will host different events: fairs and exhibitions – the Barbie & Lego International Exhibition (May 14 – June 6), concerts: George Dalaras (May 2), Goran Bregovic (May 20), Ozzy Osbourne (October 2), special events: Kids’ Amusement Park (May 28 – June 1), Football Town (June 11- July 11) and many other events.

Venue: Zone Arena

May Day takes people to the seaside

The concert “May Day on the Seaside” is part of the “2010 Health Campaign”. The event, organized under the Stufstock banner, will include a series of live rock concerts, featuring Urma, E.M.I.L., Vita de Vie, Chester, Za Duff and Replace.

“We will organize a first-time event on the beach of Vama Veche. We’ve started from the idea that the people who come to the resort need a beach event, because there is not much room in clubs, or in places where cultural and artistic activities are organized,” Izabela Rudolf, one of the event organizers, said, on Tuesday, in the press conference.

Vama is ready to receive people from across the country, on Saturday, offering them the opportunity to attend the series of events, which promote both music and arts like drama, film, literature, photography, street performances and, increasingly, an ecological attitude, with a view to Stufstock 2010. In the first half of Saturday, in collaboration with the Romanian Dancing Federation, there will be live demonstrations of rock’n’roll and street dance by professionals from three ballroom dancing clubs in Constanta. The campaign for health is meant to take place annually, in four main “columns”, corresponding to the four seasons, and encourages the practice of various types of open-air sports (seasonal sports). Those who will take part in the beach dancing contest will be able to win special prizes offered by the organizers.

The organizers expressed their belief that, whatever the weather, “those who come to Vama Veche this weekend won’t stay indoors”.
