The GPS fleet tracking solution from Romanian market leader SAS Grup indicates monthly fuel theft between 30L and 250L per vehicle, a press release states. “Most fuel is stolen from vehicles of over 12 tonnes and road tanker average theft is at about 200L for every 10,000 Km of distance covered, which, in general, is the maximum monthly transport range. An employer may incur a monthly loss of up to RON 800 per vehicle, as most road tankers travel long monthly distances – approximately 10,000 Km,” SAS Grup General Manager Adrian Dinu stated. “Fuel theft from passenger vehicles is insignificant compared to trucks. The main problem companies usually have with such vehicles is the fact that, sometimes, employees use them for private interest. However, our tracking products are able to identify all routes and, once the drivers learns that the vehicle is being monitored, they either stop using the car like that or…face the consequences,” Dinu explained.
