Cyprus FM on Bucharest visit

The Cypriot minister of Foreign Affairs, Markos Kyprianou, started yesterday a two-day visit to Romania. The visit’s schedule includes talks with PM Emil Boc and the head of diplomacy, Teodor Baconschi. Kyprianou was set to meet Boc yesterday evening, while talks with his counterpart will be held today.

According to a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Mediafax, the visit is an occasion to identify new opportunities for the development and diversification of bilateral ties, as well as to exchange ideas on topical issues in the European and international reality. Romania and Cyprus celebrate 50 years since the initiation of diplomatic ties, and, to mark this occasion, the minister organized an exhibition of archive documents. The Cypriot Foreign minister was to arrive in Bucharest on April 18, but his visit was postponed due to the ash cloud, which resulted in flight restrictions.
