Isabelle Huppert in Bucharest event exhibition and masterclass

French actress Isabelle Huppert is to take part in a masterclass at the Theatre and Cinamatography University in Bucharest from May 28 to 30. Huppert will appear along with Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, who won the Palme d’Or award in Cannes two years ago and the award for European Film 2007 at the European Film Awards. Eight movies starring Huppert are going to be screened in Bucharest during her stay. On Friday 28 May, a photo exhibition Isabelle Huppert: Woman of Many Faces, an ambitious photo show that will be on display at Dalles Galleries as of Friday. The exhibition gathers 120 photo and video portraits of French actress Isabelle Huppert created by a multi-generational and international group of leading photographers.


The works by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edouard Boubat, Nan Goldin, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Robert Franck, Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, Roni Horn, Juergen Teller, Helmut Newton, Robert Wilson and many others are inspired by Isabelle Huppert’s dynamic, challenging and powerful presence in her movie roles and act as a tribute to her prolific, thirty-year acting career.Isabelle Huppert: Woman of Many Faces has already been presented in over seven important institutions, including the Musée d’art Moderne/Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris, the Galerie C/O in Berlin, the Gallery of the Botanical Garden in Madrid, the Gemeentemuseum of Den Haag in The Netherlands and the Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Tokyo. The 250,000 plus visitors who have visited the show so far confirm the public’s interest in this exhibition, which can be further described as a ‘history of the photographic portrait in the last decades of the 20th Century’.
