Sibiu Theatre Festival opens today

The 17th edition of The Sibiu International Theatre Festival kicks off this weekend, in what promises to be one of the most interesting editions so far. SITF, the most prominent annual performing arts event from Romania and the third in the world in terms of vastness and importance, has compiled a programme which gathers in Sibiu guests from 70 countries and presents 350 events which take place in 66 venues, with an average of 35 000 visitors per day. In premiere, The “Radu Stanca” National Theatre, Theatre D’Esch-Sur-Alzette and Centre Culturel de Rencontre Abbaye de Neumunster will present Ovidiu’s “Metamorphosis”, directed by Silviu Purcarete, a mega-performance originally made in Luxembourg in 2007.
