For three days, the 300 crew of USS Oscar Austin, a destroyer in the US Navy, have been training with Romanian sailors. The destroyer docked in the Constanta harbour this week, after a three-week march, having left the US Port of Norfolk. According to ‘Adevarul’ daily, aboard the ship there are rocket launchers and a 54mm ground and anti-aircraft combat cannon. Destroyer Oscar Austin was launched at sea on February 7, 1998, and became part of the US Navy on August 19, 2000. Before it departed, the destroyer had participated in Black Sea drills alongside Romanian frigates. The US destroyer left Romania on Friday, destination unknown.
